Play Submissions

Be the first to hear about our next submission dates. We will be seeking new full-length plays by Maine playwrights, both emerging and established. At this time, we are considering only the first thirty submissions. 

 

Scripts should be straight plays, 60-120 mins long, of any genre. (No musicals at this time, please.) The play must be performance-ready with no prior full productions. (Previous readings are ok.)

 

Plays should be in English with standard play formatting. The cover page includes the title of the play, playwright and other contributor names, and contact information. All other pages should be free of identifying information to create anonymity during the selection process.

 

Plays will be screened for suitability and then passed to the selection panel. Plays will be read by at least two readers. Those chosen to go forward will meet with a dramaturg and/or director before attending a table read by the Selection Panel. One play will be selected for rehearsal and a public staged reading at the end of January in Portland or Falmouth. Playwrights must attend meetings, in person or via Zoom, and must attend the performance(s). Other rehearsal attendance is suggested but required.
